Festival Accessibility

The following information should answer questions regarding festival accessibility at Outside Lands.

For more information or special requests, please contact us via email at access@sfoutsidelands.com. If you are requesting a Sign Language interpreter, please make your requests at least 30 days in advance of the festival dates to ensure availability and to allow for adequate preparation. We will attempt to arrange an interpreter on shorter notice, but cannot guarantee availability.

Access Center

The Access Center is your one stop shop for all things accessibility. We are staffed from opening gates to the end of the night. At the Access Center you can get information and questions answered about our Accessibility Program, get a wristband that grants access to the ADA viewing platforms and golf cart shuttles. You can also charge your power wheelchair or scooter, or borrow an assistive listening device. If you have a specific need or accommodation request, Access Center staff can assist you. The Access Center is located just inside the ADA entrance at 36th Ave and JFK Drive. If you are coming from the Polo Field, please head through the North Tunnel, go to your left and follow the paved path towards JFK Drive. The Access Center will be on your right.

Festival Grounds

Outside Lands takes place in beautiful Golden Gate Park. As with any outdoor setting, you will encounter various types of terrain. At Outside Lands that includes sandy pathways, uneven dirt roads, paved roads, and grassy fields. You may find the occasional tree root or pothole. Outside Lands is a large site. So please, plan accordingly as there are some distances to be covered to get to all of the areas and stages on the site.

Entering the Festival

ADA Entrance

While all entrances are accessible, we strongly encourage guests with disabilities and injuries to enter through the designated ADA entrance at 36th and JFK. The Access Center is just inside this entrance, here you will find accessibility information and can request a golf cart shuttle. The entrance at 36th and JFK Drive has a limited amount of accessible parking.

ADA Parking

There is a very limited amount of ADA parking available on a first come, first served basis. To access this parking, please enter the park at 36th Ave and Fulton, and let the gate agents know you are using the ADA Parking. Some of the ADA parking is located on a road with uneven terrain, or may be the equivalent of several blocks from the ADA entrance. If you would like a golf cart pick up, please notify the parking staff, so they can request an ADA shuttle to take you to the entrance gate.

Drop Off / Pick Up

Patrons with disabilities wishing to be dropped off or picked up at the festival must enter the park at 36th and Fulton and will be directed to the Access Entrance to the festival on 36th and JFK. Please look for the sign with the wheelchair symbol and stop there to talk with event staff and indicate the need for a drop-off or pick up at the Access Entrance to the festival at 36th and JFK.

Ride Shares

If you are traveling to the festival via rideshare, please let your driver know that you need to be dropped off at the ADA Drop Off inside the park on JFK Drive. The driver will need to enter the park at 36th Ave and Fulton and inform the staff that they are dropping off at the ADA entrance. Please note the pick-up location for ride shares is located several up-hill blocks outside of the park. We may be able to offer transportation to the pick-up for a very limited number of folks. For more information, please speak to the staff at the Access Center.

Additional Information

Accessible Viewing Platforms

Outside Lands provides elevated Accessible Viewing Platforms at the Sutro, Twin Peaks and Lands End stages. These accessible viewing platforms are for guests who use wheelchairs, have significant mobility disabilities, or who have difficulty standing for long periods of time. Banquet style folding chairs are available at all viewing platforms. Staff will manage the viewing platform accordingly to ensure all patrons are comfortable during busy times.

Accessible Restrooms

Accessible restrooms are conveniently located next to all ADA viewing platforms. All restroom areas have a number of accessible toilets on either end.

Golf Cart and Van Transportation

We have a golf cart shuttle system to get patrons with mobility impairments around the festival. Our golf carts travel to and from the accessible viewing platforms, the access center, from inside the festival entrances, and a few other locations throughout the festival. Please note that shuttles are by request only, so please notify staff at the platforms, gates and elsewhere that you need to request a pick up. There is a high demand for shuttles so we limit capacity to our disabled patrons plus one companion. We work as efficiently as possible, but there is a limited number of shuttles, so please expect a wait, and plan your requests accordingly.

For patrons with mobility disabilities coming to Outside Lands via shuttle, please notify festival staff upon entering the festival that you require an ADA assistance and a golf cart shuttle will be dispatched to pick you up.

For patrons using electric wheelchairs or other large devices, we have a wheelchair accessible van available to take you from one end of the festival to the other, with strategic pick up and drop off points. Please speak to Access Team staff to dispatch van transportation.

Prescription Medicines and Special Dietary Needs

All prescriptions must have a prescription label. Your photo ID must match the name on the prescription label.

If a patron has special medical dietary restrictions, a personal amount of food will be allowed in if accompanied by a doctor’s note. Please contact access@sfoutsidelands.com with any questions or concerns.

Interpreting Services

Please make your requests as early as possible, and no later than 4 weeks prior to Outside Lands. Send your request to access@sfoutsidelands.com. We will do our best to answer requests within 4 weeks, but are unable to make any guarantee.

Service Animals

Outside Lands is happy to host all trained service animals. Other animals will not be permitted into the festival. We request that you enter the festival through the ADA entrance at 36th Ave and JFK Drive, and once inside, stop by the Access Center so we can provide a collar tag for your animal.
